Central BBQ
In Memphis, Tennessee, there is one attraction we could could not miss. At all.
The South is famous for some great things, one is BBQ.
If you can connect the dots, then you will figure out that we went to a barbecue place in Memphis, Tennessee. And with any luck, you will also have figured out that the barbecue place is called Central BBQ.
The original location is 2249 Central Ave., which explains where the name came from (This happened a while ago, so I think that's what they told us, I can't recall exactly). The cup they gave us says Slow Smoked Memphis Style. Spot on. Precisely. I love barbecue, and this is some of the best, and most creative, barbecue I've ever had. No doubt about it.
I say most creative because they have some things that you won't find much anywhere else. Like BBQ Nachos. Or sausage and cheese plate. That last one is probably actually pretty common, but whatever. It was still some of the greatest stuff ever.
The BBQ is never cooked with the sauce on it, according to their website here. It makes all the differences.
The restaurant itself was pretty cool too. There's all sorts of crazy stuff on the walls (typical of such places) and a wild mural on the wall. Out front there is a cougar or something on a little perch.
Central Barbecue was generous too, 'cuz thats how they do it at Central BBQ. The restaurant was awesome. Fantastic. Great. Unbelievable. Gotta love it.
